Regarding the case of many tourists falling into the river while visiting Cai Rang Floating Market, on the morning of February 17, an interdisciplinary inspection team led by the Inspectorate of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VHTTDL) of Can Tho City inspected the Khoi My stop (Khoi My establishment) at Cai Rang Floating Market, Cai Rang District, Can Tho City.

At the meeting, Mr. Tran Chi (owner of Khoi My establishment) reported the incident of the cape collapse that caused many tourists to fall into the river.
The incident occurred at around 6:20 a.m. on February 16. At that time, due to the large number of visitors gathering at the bow of the raft waiting for the boat to arrive, many tourists fell into the water. When the incident occurred, neighboring cruise ships helped bring passengers safely to shore. This was an unexpected incident, tourists did not react or complain.
"At this time, there were about 100 tourists on the raft house, 4 tourists fell into the water. The collapsed part was the nose of the raft house. There were life jackets on the raft houses but tourist boats promptly rescued them," said Mr. Chi.
According to Mr. Chi, before Tet, he had reinforced the raft house, but due to the urgent time, the raft tip had not been completed. When the incident occurred, the Inspectorate of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the city contacted to get information. The Traffic Police Department of the City Police has come to work and made a record of the suspension of operations, pending settlement.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang On - Chief Inspector of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City - informed that Khoi My facility has been suspended since February 17 due to not meeting business conditions and not ensuring safety regulations in tourism activities. The facility will only resume operations when it completes business procedures, ensures safety requirements and has an inspection permit in accordance with regulations.
"Through the inspection, the inspection team discovered that this establishment had a number of violations, such as: not fully implementing business conditions, the establishment had an inspection but had expired and did not ensure safety conditions for customers," said Mr. On.
The inspection team also agreed to draw up a record of violations to administratively sanction the owner of the facility. Particularly for the location of the raft house collapse, the owner of the facility had to reinforce and upgrade to ensure the safety of tourists.
According to the representative of the Inspectorate of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City, in addition to the above facility, the city will soon establish a team to inspect all business establishments and boats serving sightseeing at Cai Rang Floating Market to ensure safety.
As Lao Dong reported, on February 16, social networks spread a clip recording dozens of tourists falling into the river while visiting Cai Rang Floating Market. At the time of the incident, the raft house area was crowded with tourists, everyone was in a mess. An employee on the tourist boat kept throwing a life jacket at a person in the water.
