Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway was officially opened to traffic on December 24, 2023. This expressway has contributed to shortening the travel time from Tuyen Quang City to Hanoi by 1/3 (from 3 hours to 2 hours).
Recorded on December 23, 2024, after exactly 1 year of opening, traffic on the route is stable. Vehicles can move at the maximum allowed speed (90 km/h), without the overload situation like some other highways.
The road surface and traffic safety works on the route are of guaranteed quality. According to the temporary operator of Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway, the daily traffic volume on the route is about 6,000 - 7,000 vehicles. There is an increase on weekends and holidays.
Mr. Tran Hoang Anh (Hanoi City) said that since this highway was opened to traffic, travel time has been shortened and traffic safety has been much better than traveling on National Highway 2, which is crowded with vehicles and has narrow roads.
"This route does not have much traffic so it is quite safe, however I still see large, bulky trucks running in. Therefore, it is necessary to control the load well to maintain the quality of the road surface," Mr. Hoang Anh shared.
Due to limited investment capital, there is currently no continuous emergency lane on the entire Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway. Instead, an emergency stop will be arranged every 3-4 km.
Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway is 40.2 km long. Of which, the section passing through Tuyen Quang province is about 11.63 km, and the section passing through Phu Tho province is about 28.57 km. The total investment is more than 3,750 billion VND. This is also the first expressway in the country to be assigned to the Provincial Project Management Board as the investor.
On December 23, speaking with reporters, a leader of the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Traffic Works in Tuyen Quang Province (investor) said that the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho Expressway is operating stably, ensuring the quality of the items and is completing related procedures for official handover.
"Currently, the new exploitation is temporary, the investor does not directly manage the temporary operation, this task is assigned by the Ministry of Transport to a unit under the Department of Roads", the leader of the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic Works in Tuyen Quang province informed.
