Hanoi - During the Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday and April 30 - May 1, public passenger transport served more than 6.2 million passengers, contributing to ensuring safe travel.

During the Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday and April 30 - January 1 this year, people's travel demand has increased, but Hanoi's transportation system is still operating stably and safely. Notably, public passenger transport continues to promote its pillar role when serving more than 6.2 million passengers.

On May 4, representatives of the Hanoi Department of Construction said that the total volume of public passenger transport during the two holidays reached about 6.2 million trips. Of which, buses accounted for a large proportion with about 5.8 million passengers, operating more than 123,000 trips. Especially during the Hung Kings Commemoration holiday, it served about 3.3 million passengers; the April 30 - May 1 holiday reached about 2.5 million trips.

The urban railway system continues to affirm its effectiveness when transporting more than 413,000 passenger trips with 2,985 train trips. Cat Linh - Ha Dong route reached more than 267,000 passenger trips, while Nhon - Hanoi Station route reached nearly 140,000 trips. Metro lines operate stably, ensuring safety, without incidents during the holiday.

The operation and supervision work is maintained closely with on-duty teams and hotlines to support passengers. Security and order throughout the bus and metro network are ensured, creating peace of mind for people.

In the field of inter-provincial transport, from April 24 to May 1, bus stations in the area served more than 241,000 passenger trips, with more than 23,000 bus trips departing, of which 929 vehicles were reinforced. Vehicle conditions inspection, fire prevention and fighting, and environmental sanitation were strictly implemented.

Regarding the general traffic situation, the city basically controls well. However, at some peak hours such as the afternoon of April 29th, morning of April 30th and May 3rd, traffic volume increased sharply at radial axes and gateways. Some points experienced localized congestion such as Ring Road 3 elevated, Phap Van - Cau Gie, Giap Bat bus station area, Nuoc Ngam and Giai Phong - Ngoc Hoi axis. The main reason is the sudden increase in the number of personal vehicles and inter-provincial passenger cars.

Conversely, the inner city area recorded a decrease in traffic volume, many streets were more open than usual days.

Traffic infrastructure is maintained stably with 59 minor incidents arising, mainly related to traffic signs, manhole covers, medians... and are all handled promptly. Functional forces proactively divert traffic, set up warnings and update information to support people to move conveniently. The duty shift at 17 railway intersections is strictly ensured, without incidents occurring.

Not only transportation, urban technical infrastructure sectors also operated stably throughout the holiday. The water supply system maintained a capacity of about 1.32 million m3/day and night, fully meeting living and production needs. The lighting system generated 142 incidents, of which 128 incidents were promptly handled.

Environmental sanitation work has been strengthened to prevent waste accumulation. Key flood control projects have been accelerated, with 15 pumping stations being test-operated, ready to serve the 2026 rainy season.
