On March 11, Vietnam National Group of Industry - Energy (PetroVietnam) said that the first shipment of LNG cargo of Vietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS - a member unit of PetroVietnam) in 2026 just safely docked at the port in the Cai Mep - Thi Vai area (HCMC).
Previously, at about 9:30 am on March 10, ship FAT'H AL KHAIR carrying 63,000 tons of LNG (equivalent to 87 million Sm3 of natural gas) docked at Thi Vai LNG Port of PV GAS. This LNG shipment was loaded on February 26 and safely docked after an international transport journey.
The ship left the Middle East region and passed through the Strait of Hormuz before military tensions broke out, ensuring that the transportation journey was not interrupted in the context that this region is becoming a geopolitical hotspot of the world.
According to PetroVietnam, PV GAS's first LNG ship in 2026 safely docking is not only meaningful in terms of fuel supply for electricity production, but also a positive signal for PetroVietnam's LNG import activities in 2026, in the context of facing many challenges.
LNG from the FAT'H AL KHAIR ship will be recycled into gas at Thi Vai LNG Terminal, supplied to power plants, contributing to ensuring fuel sources for the national power system during the energy demand is increasing.
PV GAS's proactive arrangement of LNG sources, early contract signing and timely transportation organization demonstrate the unit's capacity to operate the gas supply chain, contributing to stabilizing the energy market. At the same time, it continues to affirm PetroVietnam's role in proactively ensuring energy sources for the national power system, especially in the context of the world energy market being volatile.
