Located in Bac Ninh - the gateway to Hanoi Capital, Gia Binh Airport is expected to meet the infrastructure needs of a dynamic economic region, while creating momentum for industry, logistics, urban areas and new service industries. In the context of preparing for APEC 2027, the project also carries more meaning as a strategic infrastructure component serving important foreign affairs tasks. Going beyond the APEC milestone, Gia Binh Airport aims to become a leading international aviation hub, contributing to economic growth and developing Vietnam's image on the international stage.
Opening up space for large capital flows to promote economic development
Returning to the National Airport System Adjustment Plan, according to forecasts, by 2030, the investment capital demand for the airport system is about 577.572 billion VND. This reality opens up great opportunities to mobilize resources from the private sector and many other resources. Not stopping at a financial strategy, this is seen as a strategic imperative to break through infrastructure, thereby creating a breakthrough in growth. This is also the direction being promoted through recent institutional reforms. Resolution No. 68 - NQ/TW of the Politburo on private economic development and Resolution 79 - NQ/TW of the Politburo on state economic development are expected to create a more favorable corridor for private enterprises to participate in strategic infrastructure projects according to the model of cooperation with the State.

Mentioning capital from the private sector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thuong Lang - Senior Lecturer at the Institute of International Trade and Economics said: After nearly 40 years of Doi Moi, the private economic sector has proven its ability to innovate, manage flexibly and adapt quickly to the market. When appropriate mechanisms are created, private enterprises not only supplement investment resources but also contribute to improving the quality of management and the efficiency of exploiting infrastructure projects.
Agreeing and exchanging with the Business Forum, Mr. Nguyen The Minh - Director of Investment Banking Block, member of the Board of Directors of An Binh Securities Joint Stock Company (ABS) said: For large-scale infrastructure projects such as airports, bank credit may not be the main source of capital due to the long capital recovery time. Therefore, it is necessary to unlock and expand long-term capital mobilization channels such as infrastructure bonds, and at the same time combine preferential capital from international financial institutions and green financial funds. In particular, the State needs to have a "capital bait" mechanism to create confidence for investors and improve the ability to mobilize social capital.
Experts believe that private financial resources for infrastructure development investment are not lacking. However, only businesses with management capacity, financial potential and prestige are able to access them. According to Mr. Nguyen The Minh, three decisive factors include financial capacity, project implementation experience and market reputation. These are also conditions for credit institutions and investors to be willing to accompany large-scale projects.
Shaping a new aviation growth pole
The reality of deploying large infrastructure construction, including aviation in recent years, shows that when given the opportunity and appropriate mechanisms, the private economic sector contributes to creating value, establishing a new breakthrough growth model. In which, Masterise Aviation Joint Stock Company, the investor of Gia Binh International Airport, is oriented to become one of the leading private enterprises participating in the development of high-quality aviation infrastructure in Vietnam. With a mindset of taking user experience as the center, orienting the development of a synchronous service ecosystem and committing to pursue international standards on design, technology and operation, the enterprise aims to contribute to the formation of a modern, smart and unique generation of airports.
According to the plan, Gia Binh International Airport will put phase 1 into commercial operation from 2027. The project is typical of the increasingly prominent role of the private sector in strategic infrastructure projects, forming a growth pole for new generation aviation, in line with world development trends.
Mr. Thomas Romig - Senior Operations Director of Gia Binh International Airport, Vice President in charge of Safety, Security and Operations of the International Airports Authority (ACI) - said that the airport is oriented to develop on three pillars: service quality, excellence in operation and technological innovation.
According to him, the advantage of Gia Binh International Airport lies not only in the airport infrastructure but also in the synchronously planned aerotropolis ecosystem, integrating logistics, commerce, services and urban areas. This will be the foundation for forming a new economic growth pole, while improving Vietnam's connectivity with the international air transport chain. Notably, Gia Binh International Airport is built according to the "digitally native" model, applying digital platforms and artificial intelligence from the early stages. Data is exploited throughout the entire operation process to support making decisions in real time, optimizing operational efficiency and enhancing passenger experience.
If implemented on schedule and promoted effectively, especially in the process of preparing to serve APEC 2027, Gia Binh airport will not only supplement the capacity of the national aviation system but can also become a new model for mobilizing private capital, developing infrastructure according to international standards and preparing operating capacity for high-level foreign affairs events.
