On October 2, the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Ninh province to organize a conference to exchange and share experiences in State management of the industrial and commercial sector; orient cooperation in developing and connecting trade between enterprises and cooperatives of the two localities.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City, the city's economic structure continues to shift strongly towards modernity. It is expected that by the end of 2025, the proportion of agriculture, forestry and fishery will account for 20.95%; the industrial - construction sector will account for 28.37%, services will account for 45.36% and product taxes will account for 5.32%.
The industrial sector is growing positively, especially processing and manufacturing with an increase of 8.12% in the first 8 months of 2025. The trade - service sector has developed strongly. Total retail sales of goods and services for the first 9 months is estimated at VND259 trillion, up 17% over the same period last year. Total export turnover and foreign currency revenue in the first 9 months of 2025 is estimated at 4,111.2 million USD, up 12.1% over the same period.
Mr. Ha Vu Son - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City - commented that the city's economy has developed in many fields, especially trade and services are considered strengths.
However, to promote the economy to continue to grow remarkably in the coming time, Mr. Son said that the department will promote exchanges and learning experiences from the Industry and Trade sector of Bac Ninh province. The focus is on a clear and synchronous overall plan in all aspects, including agriculture, industry, trade, services, associated with social infrastructure systems, education and health.
Meanwhile, in the North of Ninh, up to now, the province has 41 50% of industrial parks approved for the Detailed Planning; of which, 33 industrial parks have been established with a total area of about 10,171 hectares, with 22 industrial parks in operation, employing more than 552,000 workers. In addition, the province has 96 industrial clusters established with a total area of 3,673 hectares.
Industry continues to affirm itself as a pillar, the main driving force for economic growth of the province. The industrial production index is estimated to reach 115.9% in the first 9 months of 2025 compared to the same period, continuously in the leading group in the country, with growth remaining at double digits.
In the trade - service sector, total retail sales of goods and services are estimated at VND 107,257 billion, up 18.82% over the same period last year. The total value of import and export of goods in the first 9 months is estimated at 129.26 billion USD. The trade balance for the first 9 months had a trade surplus of more than 2.16 billion USD.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Hieu - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Ninh province - said that the conference is an opportunity for the professional departments of the two Departments, and especially local enterprises, to share experiences, support each other and develop together. This cooperation is not only limited to state management but also promotes the growth of businesses in both provinces and cities.
The Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Ninh province also emphasized that he will coordinate to support, discuss and help businesses from Can Tho who want to invest and develop product consumption in the province in the coming time.

Within the framework of the conference, there was also a signing ceremony of the Principles of Trade Connection Contracts between a number of enterprises and cooperatives in the two localities.
