On June 29, the People's Council of Ca Mau province opened the regular meeting in mid-2026, assessing the socio-economic development situation and tasks for the last months of the year.
According to a report by the Provincial People's Committee, GRDP in the first 6 months of 2026 is estimated to increase by about 6.4 - 6.6%, not reaching the 8% growth scenario set out. This growth rate is lower than the national target of double-digit growth.
Meanwhile, state budget revenue is estimated at 6,956 billion VND, equal to 61% of the estimate, an increase of 14% compared to the same period last year. Budget expenditure reached about 12,655 billion VND, equal to 48.1% of the estimate, an increase of 4.9%.

Domestic revenue reached about 6,500 billion VND, equal to 58.4% of the estimate; revenue from import and export activities reached 456 billion VND, exceeding 167% of the estimate and increasing by 94% compared to the same period. 12/20 revenue items reached over 50% of the estimate, in which many key revenue sources such as revenue from central state-owned enterprises, personal income tax, registration fees, land use fees and lottery activities all achieved positive results.
The report also pointed out many difficulties affecting the province's economic growth. The scale of the economy is still small, GRDP is only about 7 billion USD, equivalent to about 1.4% of the country's GDP. The economic structure is shifting slowly, the proportion of agriculture is still high while industry and construction have not developed commensurately.
Some industrial production targets decreased compared to the same period; export activities of enterprises faced many difficulties. Fuel price fluctuations increased production and business costs; production - consumption linkage was still weak, and the agricultural product value chain lacked sustainability.
In addition, natural disasters continue to affect aquaculture; the disbursement progress of public investment capital is still slow; backlog land dossiers have not been completely resolved. Although the number of newly established businesses has increased, the number of dissolved and terminated businesses has also increased compared to the same period.

Investment attraction still faces many obstacles, especially renewable energy projects such as wind power, solar power, hydrogen and green ammonia; obstacles for LNG projects have not been removed.
The People's Council of Ca Mau province assessed that the tasks in the last months of the year are still very heavy when many growth targets have not met requirements; the progress of disbursement of public investment, implementation of national target programs and key projects is still slow.
Along with that, the situation of landslides, subsidence, natural disasters, epidemics and the impact of climate change continues to be complicated, while the quality of human resources, infrastructure and competitiveness of the economy still have many limitations that need to be overcome soon.
