After the Lunar New Year holiday, investment channels such as real estate, stocks, gold or savings gradually restarted. In the context of global economic fluctuations, 2025 promises many opportunities and challenges for investors.
After each Tet holiday, the investment market is always bustling when idle money from people starts to return. Securities are a popular investment channel due to their high liquidity.
Experts say that the real estate, banking and energy groups will lead the market in 2025 thanks to support from flexible management policies and signs of recovery from the macro economy. Many investors expect blue-chip stocks (stocks of large, reputable companies with stable operations and high dividend payment capacity) and sectors that directly benefit from FDI inflows as well as the stability of the capital market.
According to Mr. Dao Hong Duong, Director of Industry and Stock Analysis at VPBank Securities (VPBankS), the Vietnamese stock market often has positive developments after Tet.
He said: "The fluctuations right after Lunar New Year are often more positive. After Tet, the announcement of business results of listed enterprises and the season of shareholders' meetings begin, creating momentum for market liquidity."
Real estate remains an attractive long-term investment channel, although the short-term market is still facing many difficulties. After Tet, the land segment in suburban areas of Hanoi continues to attract attention, with areas such as Dong Anh, Hoai Duc and Gia Lam recording positive transaction volumes. However, investors need to be cautious with projects that do not have full legal documents or are overpriced.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dinh - Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Realtors (VARS) - predicted: "In 2025, the real estate market will enter a new cycle, although some difficulties and obstacles still remain. In particular, the land segment in areas with developed infrastructure and clear legal status is expected to attract the attention of investors."
Gold continues to be a safe haven amid global economic turmoil. Experts predict that gold prices could surpass $3,000 an ounce in 2025 thanks to increased demand. The US dollar, despite some corrections following the Fed’s actions, remains an attractive option but carries higher risks.
For investors who prefer stability, saving money in banks is a popular choice after Tet, especially when interest rates at some banks remain high.
The prominent trend in 2025 is the rise of sustainable investment channels, especially ESG (environmental, social and governance) stocks such as Vinamilk (VNM), FPT Corporation (FPT) and Vingroup (VIC). These are businesses that are highly appreciated for their responsibility to protect the environment, make positive contributions to society and have transparent governance systems.
In addition, technology sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), fintech and renewable energy also attract strong capital flows thanks to their great growth potential. These sectors not only bring long-term profits but are also in line with the sustainable development strategy that Vietnam is aiming for, while helping investors participate in the green economic transition.
