In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year, the atmosphere of buying flowers and ornamental plants on major roads in Da Nang City becomes busier than ever. Along with that, the service of hiring peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, and ornamental plants is also "thriving", bringing in a decent income for many freelance workers during Tet.
At flower and ornamental plant selling points on Hoang Thi Loan, Nguyen Sinh Sac, Le Dai Hanh, Nguyen Dinh Tuu streets... it is not difficult to see images of small trucks and trailers on duty ready to carry goods for customers. With just one call, the transporter can quickly bring apricot and peach blossom pots to the buyer's house.
Mr. Pham Duc Phuong (An Khe ward, Da Nang city) said that on peak days near Tet, he works almost all day without rest.
Carrying small flower pots costs from 80,000 - 100,000 VND/trip, while large, heavy ornamental plant pots can cost up to 350,000 - 400,000 VND/trip. There are days running continuously from morning to night, earning a few million VND is normal," Mr. Phuong shared.
According to Mr. Phuong, he usually works as a construction worker. However, when the project temporarily takes a break during Tet, he takes advantage of switching to transporting flowers and ornamental plants for rent to earn extra income. Although the job is hard, he has to carry heavy loads and move a lot, but in return, his income is better than usual.
Not only transporters benefit, but small traders trading in flowers and ornamental plants also believe that hired transportation services play an important role in the consumption of goods.
Ms. Pham Tran Quynh Huong, owner of a flower shop in An Khe ward (Da Nang city) said that the closer to Tet, the higher the demand for ornamental plants increases, so for transportation, she has to hire people to deliver them to customers' homes. The price of each hired transportation trip depends on the distance, from 100,000 - 300,000 VND/trip.
According to many workers, although it is only a temporary job lasting for a short time, transporting ornamental plants for hire during Tet has become an important source of income, contributing to helping them improve their lives and earn extra income to cover living expenses near Tet.
At the same time, this service also contributes to meeting the demand for buying flowers and ornamental plants, bringing the colors of spring to each family in the first days of the new year.
