Warning of fake foreign funds to defraud stocks

Lục Giang |

The State Securities Commission warns of the situation of fake Norges Bank Investment Management fund defrauding stock investors through social networking platforms.

The State Securities Commission (SSC) received a report from a foreign investor, Norges Bank Investment Management, reflecting on the situation of a Telegram group called “Norges Bank Investment Management” showing signs of impersonating the name and logo of Norges Bank Investment Management with the aim of enticing investors to transfer money to buy securities and open securities trading accounts.

According to Norges Bank Investment Management, this organization does not have any offices or operations in Vietnam, nor does it provide any investment services in this market. In particular, Norges Bank Investment Management affirms that it does not allow the use of its name on Telegram or any social media platform to reach the public in Vietnam for commercial or investment purposes.

In light of the above situation, the State Securities Commission recommends that investors be cautious and carefully check information before making securities transactions through social networking platforms. Investors need to check with official sources to avoid being scammed and having their assets misappropriated.

Norges Bank Investment Management is one of the world's leading investment funds, managing $1.739 trillion in assets by the end of 2024, including stocks, real estate and other assets. The fund's portfolio includes many large technology corporations such as Apple, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Alphabet and Amazon.
