Real pine trees are in high demand for Christmas 2024

Near Christmas, many ornamental plant shops make big profits from selling real Christmas trees.

Popular for its sustainability

Considering Christmas as one of the special occasions of the year, Ms. Le Thi Giang’s family (Cau Giay, Hanoi) always invests a certain amount of money in decorating the house on this occasion. Unlike previous years, instead of buying fake pine trees for decoration, this year Ms. Giang gives priority to real trees, with many advantages.

"Real plants are usually smaller than fake plants, but I find them to be very different in beauty, can be played with longer, and I can also take care of them every day. In addition, this type of plant is small and pretty, so it looks more lovely when decorated or placed on the table.

In addition to traditional decorations such as snowflakes and crystal balls, "real" pine trees such as cypress, pine, etc. are often decorated with dried orange slices and cinnamon bark, which have a more fragrant smell and are more environmentally friendly. This year, I spent 700,000 VND to buy trees to decorate my house for Christmas," said Ms. Giang.

Also loving the scent and natural beauty, Mr. Tung Anh (Dong Da, Hanoi) chose the cypress tree to decorate his working corner this Christmas season.

"The pine tree is 45cm - 1.5m tall, suitable for placing on desks, bookshelves or small corners in the room. In addition, when playing with this type of tree, I can take care of them like a bonsai. Compared to artificial pine trees, using real trees helps reduce plastic waste, creating a sustainable consumption trend, so I chose pine trees for this year's Christmas season," said Mr. Tung Anh.

In addition to bringing unique beauty, Christmas decorative plants such as cypress, pine... also help purify the air, create a feeling of relaxation, reduce stress when emitting a gentle lemon scent. This type of tree is also chosen by many customers to display during the Christmas season because of its low price and easy to find in many stores.

Business people earn "millions"

Realizing the potential of the market, many stores this year have switched to selling cypress and pine trees for the Christmas season. In addition to selling trees, many places also provide tree decoration services upon request, meeting the diverse needs of customers.

Specifically, for a pre-decorated cypress tree with a height of 45 - 50cm, the price is about 285,000 VND/tree, the tree with a height of 1.2m - 1.5m costs about 1,250,000 VND/tree. For undecorated trees, the price will be softer, ranging from 165,000 - 550,000 VND/tree depending on the size.

Ms. Tran Thi Phuong Linh, an employee at a plant shop in Yen Hoa, Cau Giay, said: "Since the beginning of December, the business of cypress and pine trees at the shop has been very good, there are days when dozens of trees are sold, thanks to the right business trend.

Because they are real trees, they are easy to take care of after the Christmas holiday. These trees can be planted outdoors. If well cared for, they can be enjoyed all next season, saving costs and beautifying the living space," said Ms. Linh.
