The content of the project "Conserving Tien Yen chicken gene sources" includes: Additional investigation, assessment of the current status of gene sources and the situation of raising Tien Yen chickens; Selection of nucleus flocks of male Tien Yen chickens; Selection of nucleus flocks of female Tien Yen chickens; Completing the process of raising Tien Yen chickens, both reproductive and commercial types; Conferences, training, coaching, technology transfer...
The implementation period is 36 months from the date of signing the contract to perform the task.
Tien Yen chicken, raised in Tien Yen district, Quang Ninh province, is a breed of chicken with crispy yellow skin, sweet, fragrant, soft and firm meat, completely different from other chicken breeds. Tien Yen chicken is on the list of 50 most delicious specialties in Vietnam (according to the Vietnam Book of Records).
Tien Yen chicken is one of the main OCOP products of Quang Ninh province, which has been carefully branded through electronic stamps and rings for traceability. Tien Yen chicken costs from 120,000 - 150,000 VND/kg.
The total chicken flock of Tien Yen district at one point reached over 1.2 million. This figure is only calculated at 400 establishments and 7 cooperatives raising Tien Yen chickens, with a scale of 500 chickens or more.
Tien Yen currently has clubs of 10,000 chickens; there are about 300 households that regularly have flocks of 3,000 chickens or more.
