On January 18, according to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, the largest flower and ornamental plant "market" in Ha Tinh during Tet holiday on Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street (Ha Tinh City) has now covered almost both sides of the street.
On the weekend, the weather was clear so many people took the opportunity to go see and choose flowers and ornamental plants to display for Tet.
Ms. Tran Thi Nga (40 years old, residing in Bac Ha ward, Ha Tinh city) - shared: "After surveying prices, I found that this year the prices of flowers and ornamental plants are a little higher than last year. That is reasonable when prices are increasing, the salaries of officials, civil servants, public employees and workers have also increased".
Mr. Tran Van Ba (born in 1992, from Hung Yen province) transported grapefruit, kumquat, and oranges to sell in Ha Tinh city - said that he has been bringing goods in for 3 days now. Because Tet is still far away, there are not many buyers.
“This year there was a lot of rain and storms so the flowers and ornamental plants were not very beautiful. There was a shortage of goods so the import was high, making the selling price about 20% higher than last year,” Mr. Ba shared.
According to Mr. Ba, the total amount of money he spent on buying goods was about 500 million, a large amount of capital, so he hopes to do business smoothly to have profit and spending money for Tet.
Participating in selling nearly 500 Nhat Tan peach trees of different sizes, Mr. Nguyen Van Binh (45 years old, residing in Thach Quy ward, Ha Tinh city) said that he has been importing goods from Nam Dinh province to sell for a few days now.
The lowest price Mr. Binh offers for each peach tree is 700,000 VND, the highest price is 7 million VND.
Mr. Binh also confirmed that the selling price of flowers and ornamental plants this year is higher than last year because this year there has been a lot of rain and storms, so ornamental plants are rarer. Many garden owners in the North have ornamental plants that have been flooded and dried up.
