On October 29, the Dak Lak Durian Association said that the locality is planning to build an on-site agricultural product testing center, after nearly 2,000 durian containers were congested due to lack of testing space.
Accordingly, the durian industry needs to be reorganized in the direction of chain governance, clearly assigning responsibility to each stage - from growers, cooperatives, purchasing enterprises to testing units.
The Association recommends that the Prime Minister allow temporary authorization for competent units in the locality to conduct end-of-season testing, in order to avoid interruption of export activities.
The People's Committee of Ea Knuc commune has proposed using the Cultural House of Hoa Dong commune (old) at Km15, National Highway 26 as a temporary testing room.
The province assigned the Department of Finance to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and related units to advise on specific plans.
Previously, from October 11, 2025, laboratories were assigned to check chemical residues (such as cadimi, gold O...) for durian products exported simultaneously to temporarily suspend operations for maintenance and upgrading of the system.
The incident occurred right at the peak of the durian harvest season, expected to last for another 2030 days, causing a series of serious consequences: The enterprise could not complete the testing procedures and issue export certificates. Nearly 2,000 durian containers were congested at the gathering points.
Purchasing activities have been suspended, causing durian prices to drop sharply; many farmers do not dare to cut their gardens, facing the risk of thousands of tons of ripe fruit falling off and damaged on the spot.
