The reason for this situation is that from October 11, 2025 to present, laboratories designated to serve the testing of chemical residues (cadimi, gold O...) for durian products for export have simultaneously suspended operations to maintain and upgrade the system.
On October 25, the Dak Lak Durian Association informed that the unit had just sent an urgent dispatch to the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee to propose removing difficulties in the consumption and export of durian for the 2025 crop.
During the durian crop season, farmers harvested and exported, testing facilities temporarily stopped operating.
Obviously, this suspension has caused difficulties for people and businesses.
Management agencies and agricultural-related units, especially durian cultivation and export, know the crop and harvest time of this agricultural product.
But it is difficult to understand why laboratories choose the right harvest season and export durian to maintain and upgrade the system.
Durian output is congested, businesses do not buy, durian prices decrease, causing damage to farmers.
Farmers not only suffered losses due to the decrease in durian prices, but durian in gardens was not harvested and consumed in time, leading to the risk of thousands of tons of durian in the locality ripening and damaging.
Fruits put on the market are limited to a certain period of time, to prolong, and are only thrown away.
Therefore, the Dak Lak Durian Association has proposed that leaders at all levels urgently direct approved laboratories to soon restore operations, especially prioritizing support for the Central Highlands - Dak Lak in the final stages of the season; establishing a "fast-track" mechanism for durian testing samples for export during peak season.
This is an urgent "rescue" and is in line with the current situation of durian growers and businesses, just a short delay, the damage cannot be fully counted.
At this time, we must put the interests of farmers and businesses first, creating conditions and maximum support for durian to be released on the market.
Also from the congestion of 2,000 durian containers in Dak Lak, it is necessary to learn from experience in implementing the testing of chemical residues for durian products for export.
The laboratories are designated to organize testing, ensure quality, but do not hinder the production and business activities of farmers and businesses.
We must work in the spirit of serving people and businesses, not machines, causing difficulties, leading to common damage to society.
