On March 3, the Dak Nong Provincial Party Committee issued Conclusion 905-KL/TU of the 12th Dak Nong Provincial Party Committee on the implementation of bauxite mining and processing projects in the province.
Accordingly, for mine clusters 2, 3, 4, 5, the province has a policy of investing in a complex of bauxite ore processing plants in accordance with legal regulations. As for mine cluster 1 (existing Nhan Co alumina complex), the province proposed that the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) carry out procedures to increase the capacity from 0.65 million tons of alumina/year to 2 million tons of alumina/year.
The mobilization of bauxite raw materials for alumina processing must comply with the mineral exploitation planning approved by the Prime Minister.
The province will report to the Prime Minister, recommend the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to review and re-classify areas where some bauxite mines are not auctioned. The province will organize an auction of mineral exploitation rights for bauxite mines subject to auction, and fully carry out the procedures for granting mining licenses according to regulations.
The province requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to promptly hand over documents and files related to geological investigation, assessment of bauxite reserves in the area; specific instructions on whether or not to auction mineral exploitation rights.
Dak Nong province will submit to the Politburo, the Government and the Prime Minister for consideration and approval of the policy of developing specific mechanisms and policies to develop the bauxite - aluminum - aluminum industry.
The province focuses on developing bauxite - alumina - aluminum complexes according to the circular economy and green economy model. The province is oriented to build Dak Nong into a bauxite - aluminum - aluminum industrial center of the country according to the direction of the Politburo and the Government's action program.
The Provincial Party Committee requests the Provincial People's Committee to urgently implement the following contents: Before April 30, 2025, complete the investment plan for at least 1-2 bauxite processing plant complexes.
The Provincial People's Committee carefully reviews legal bases and is fully responsible for the proposed investment policies for bauxite - aluminum - aluminum projects in the area.
The goal is to raise awareness of Party committees, authorities, businesses and people about the important role of the bauxite - aluminum - aluminum industry, creating high consensus in society.
