On the afternoon of February 5, the Standing Committee of Dak Nong Provincial Party Committee held a meeting to listen to the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee report on the situation of research, survey and investment in bauxite mining projects.
According to Decision (No. 866/QD-TTg) of the Prime Minister, Dak Nong has more than 173,000 hectares of land planned for bauxite mining projects by 2030, accounting for 27.8% of the province's total natural area.
The province has 5 mining clusters, with 18 mining points. Each mining cluster only builds 1 bauxite processing plant complex.
Dak Nong has agreed on the policy for research, survey and evaluation of investment proposals and 5 investors have submitted documents requesting approval for investment policies for bauxite processing plant complexes.
The Provincial People's Committee has directed the Department of Planning and Investment to advise the Provincial People's Committee to report to the Prime Minister to allow the designation of an additional bauxite processing plant complex and delineate areas where minerals will not be auctioned according to the recommendation of the Ministry of National Defense.
Currently, the mine clusters are all in line with the Dak Nong Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
To soon implement bauxite mining and processing projects in Dak Nong province, the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee reported and asked for the opinion of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to unanimously approve the investment policy for bauxite processing plant complex projects in mine clusters 2, 3, 4, 5.
Investment must comply with Decision (No. 866/QD-TTg) dated July 18, 2023 of the Prime Minister, legal regulations on investment, bidding and relevant laws.
The Provincial People's Committee requested the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to promptly review and delineate areas where bauxite mines are not auctioned as stated in Decision (No. 866/QD-TTg) and submit them to the Prime Minister for approval for bauxite mining projects in the province.
The Provincial People's Committee directed to speed up the progress of organizing mineral exploitation rights auctions for bauxite mines in the mineral exploitation rights auction area according to the provisions of law.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ngo Thanh Danh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Dak Nong province, emphasized that implementing bauxite mining projects is first of all a political task, a conscience and responsibility, for the development of Dak Nong province, aiming to improve people's lives.

The Central Government has identified Dak Nong as the national bauxite and aluminum smelting center. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a special mechanism for the province in bauxite mining and send it to ministries, branches, the Politburo, and the Prime Minister for consideration.
Bauxite mining projects must closely follow the province's land use plan. The Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee directs relevant departments and branches to urgently and resolutely carry out work contents according to regulations.
