With only one day left until the new year Binh Ngo 2026, the atmosphere at major flower markets such as Lac Long Quan street, Nguyen Hoang Ton street (Hanoi) is still bustling with buyers and sellers. However, as Tet approaches, many small traders are starting to sharply reduce prices to clear goods, especially for peach blossoms and ornamental kumquats.

In the Lac Long Quan street area, Ms. Huyen - a small trader with more than 10 years of selling ornamental kumquats during Tet, said that this year people tend to buy later, but purchasing power is generally better than last year. The price of kumquats at the beginning of the season is also slightly higher. The smallest kumquat pot last year was priced at about 150,000-180,000 VND/tree, but this year most points of sale are at the same price of 200,000 VND/tree. Large kumquat trees last year were sold at about 800,000 VND/tree, this year they are commonly priced at 1 million VND/tree.

However, according to Ms. Huyen, the 28th day of Tet is almost the time to "close books", many small traders are forced to sharply reduce prices. Some kumquat trees that were sold for 1 million VND/tree 2-3 days ago are now only about 500,000-700,000 VND/tree to sell quickly.

In contrast to ornamental kumquats, this year's Tet peach blossom market recorded a price decrease of 20–30% compared to last year. Ms. Ngoc, a peach trader, said that this year's peaches are not priced well because they bloomed too early.
This year is a leap year, there is a month left, so before Tet, peach blossoms have bloomed all over, we are forced to reduce prices to sell quickly. Compared to last year, Tet peach blossom prices this year are about 30% lower," she said.

In the Xuan La area (Tay Ho, Hanoi), Mr. Tuan also shared a similar situation. According to him, because Tet came late this year, peach blossoms bloomed early, so prices dropped. The warm weather in the last days of the year made the flowers bloom faster. "Today is also the 28th of Tet, we are selling the rest today and tomorrow morning, so we are reducing prices to try to sell them all. The branches that were sold for 1.5 million VND 3-4 days ago, now I have reduced them to 1 million VND/branch to sell quickly," Mr. Tuan said.

Regarding wild peach blossoms, Ms. Lan - a small trader specializing in selling wild peach blossoms for more than 10 years - said that the price this year is about 20–30% lower than last year.
“We import peach blossoms from Sin Ho (Lai Chau), the distance is very far. Wild peach blossoms are not sold as much as Nhat Tan peach blossoms or other types, but there are still a certain number of customers. There are still many more to sell today and tomorrow, but my goods are still plentiful,” Ms. Lan said and admitted that this year's peach blossoms are consumed slower than last year.
Recorded at large flower and ornamental plant markets in Hanoi on the 28th of Tet, the number of people coming to buy is still quite large. Many small traders simultaneously reduced prices from 20–30%, even deeper reductions for products that bloomed early or are still in large quantities, in order to recover capital before the end of the Tet season.
