Recently, at around 8:40 p.m. on November 29, during the process of screening and checking luggage at Noi Bai International Airport, inspectors from the Import Luggage Procedures Team - Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch (Hanoi City Customs Department) discovered a man with suspicious signs.
After requesting an inspection, it was discovered that the passenger was hiding three specimens suspected to be rhino horns. The passenger stated that he was hired to transport the items and was paid 5 million VND for a successful shipment.
Previously in October 2024, Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch also continuously detected and prevented many cases of illegal gold transportation.
According to the City Customs, the methods of transporting and concealing illegal goods by subjects are increasingly sophisticated, therefore, requiring the inspection force to always uphold the spirit and responsibility in the process of checking and supervising goods.
In particular, the Noi Bai International Airport Customs Branch has proactively developed immigration information software to screen passenger information according to risk criteria and automatically monitor and warn subjects, thereby improving the effectiveness of customs inspection and supervision through information exploitation and analysis.
Through screening and exploitation of information on passengers entering and leaving the country, the customs agency has put hundreds of subjects on the automatic monitoring list during the implementation of the immigration information software.
"Through the software, the work of screening, screening risks, identifying and zoning subjects is quick, accurate and especially reduces the time to look up travel history. This is the basis for the unit to carry out digital transformation, enhance the quality of customs inspection and supervision", the leader of the Customs Branch of Noi Bai International Airport informed.
