On the afternoon of May 10, Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee coordinated with Sun Group to organize the groundbreaking ceremony of the Dien Bien Phu cable car complex combined with cultural and historical tourism project in Muong Phang commune.
The ceremony was attended by Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang; leaders of Dien Bien province, representatives of Sun Group and a large number of people in the area.
At the ceremony, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang affirmed that the implementation of the cable car complex project is of practical significance in concretizing the tourism development orientations of Dien Bien province in the coming time.
The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated Sun Group's choice in deciding to invest in Dien Bien, not only to create new tourism products, but also as a tribute to the historical land; showing sharing and companionship with the locality in the process of awakening potential and advantages.

The Deputy Prime Minister also requested investors to focus maximum resources, apply modern technology, organize scientific construction; ensure labor safety and project quality.
For Dien Bien province, it is necessary to closely coordinate with investors, especially in site clearance, creating the most favorable conditions for businesses to organize project construction on schedule, complete and put the project into operation soon.

The Dien Bien Phu cable car complex combined with cultural and historical tourism project is invested by Fansipan Sa Pa Cable Car Tourism Service Co., Ltd. (under Sun Group).
The project has a total area of 35.35 ha, located in 2 communes Muong Phang and Pu Nhi. The total investment capital of the project is 2,076 billion VND. Of which, the investor's contributed capital is 312 billion VND (accounting for 15%) and mobilized capital is 1,764 billion VND.
The project's operating term is 70 years. Regarding progress, the investor has 5 years from the date of land allocation and land lease by the State to complete basic construction and put the project into operation.
When put into operation, the project is designed with a service capacity of about 15,000 people/day. The cable car line will connect from the historical relic of General Vo Nguyen Giap's bunker to the relic area of Pu To Co Mountain Observatory.
