Dong Nai has 89 industrial parks, 2,269 projects, total registered investment capital of 44.38 billion USD
The 11th Dong Nai Provincial People's Council, the first session, has just issued a Resolution approving the policy of establishing Dong Nai city directly under the Central Government and assigned the Provincial People's Committee to complete the dossier to submit to competent authorities for consideration and decision.

According to Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Ut, the establishment of Dong Nai city directly under the Central Government is an objective, urgent and well-founded requirement. This is not simply a change in the name associated with the administrative unit, but an important shift in the development model and governance model, aiming to bring Dong Nai from the position of a large industrial province to a regional-level urban area, capable of coordinating development space, connecting infrastructure, allocating resources and leading growth for the entire region. This is the desire and aspiration of the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Nai province.

Over the years, Dong Nai has always maintained stable economic growth and is in the leading group of the country. Currently, Dong Nai province is one of the major industrial centers of Vietnam, with 89 industrial parks planned, concentrated in dynamically developing areas such as Bien Hoa, Nhon Trach, Long Thanh, Dong Xoai, Dong Phu, Chon Thanh and Trang Bom. Currently, 45 countries have businesses operating industrial production in industrial parks. Dong Nai with 2,269 projects and a total registered investment capital of 44.38 billion USD, not only contributes to local economic growth but also plays an important role in the production and export chain of the Southern key economic region and the whole country.
The strategic importance of Dong Nai province for the Ho Chi Minh City megacity
According to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, the establishment of Dong Nai city directly under the Central Government stems from the position, role and strategic importance of Dong Nai province for the Southern region, the hyper-urban space of Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country.

Dong Nai has a particularly important geographical position in the development structure of the Southern region and the whole country, identified as one of the dynamic growth poles of the Southern key economic region; is the intersection point of many economic corridors and strategic connecting axes, directly linked to Ho Chi Minh City and plays the role of a bridge between the Southeast and the Central Highlands, the South Central Coast and strongly spreads to the Mekong Delta region.


With that position, Dong Nai is not only an important trade gateway but also a focal point for coordinating the flow of goods, services, and investment throughout the Southern region.

With outstanding advantages in geo-economic location, strategic infrastructure and development scale, Dong Nai fully meets the conditions to become a modern industrial - logistics - urban center of the Southern region, an important international trade gateway of Vietnam and a competitive growth pole in Southeast Asia.
Dong Nai has an area of more than 12,737.18 km2, with a population of 4,491,408 people. In 2025, Dong Nai province's GRDP is about 677,932.31 billion VND, budget revenue is over 102,962 billion VND; GRDP per capita reached 152.8 million VND/person, contributing 5% of the country's GDP, reflecting a relatively high level of economic development compared to the national average. With an economic structure leaning towards industry - services, Dong Nai has converged the foundation of a large, multi-center, multi-functional development space with a very high level of regional interaction.
