Dong Nai invites experts to contribute opinions on the 16 billion USD free trade zone project

Dong Nai - The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance to advise and invite experts to contribute opinions to complete the project to build a free trade area.

On March 29, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee just issued a document to implement the conclusions of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee meeting (March 11, 2026) and assigned the Department of Finance to urgently complete the content, advise the Provincial People's Committee to submit to competent authorities for consideration and comments according to regulations; at the same time, advise to invite leading experts of the Ministry of Finance to participate in contributing opinions to complete the project to build a free trade area.

Previously, on June 27, 2025, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee also organized a workshop "Free trade area in Dong Nai - Growth engine in the new era - Taking off with Long Thanh airport", with the participation of many experts in the fields of finance, economy, urban development, planning and logistics.

Accordingly, the free trade area will have 4 main functional areas, including: Production area (3,095ha); logistics functional area (2,244ha); finance - trade - service area (1,500ha); research and innovation area, information technology, digital economy (1,419ha) with 18 priority industries such as: digital logistics, electronics, mechanics, pharmaceuticals, food processing, information technology, human resource training...

The free trade area near Long Thanh airport has a total investment of about 16 billion USD with an area of nearly 8,300ha.

The goal of establishing a free trade zone is to maximize the advantages of Long Thanh airport, Phuoc An port, and the system of industrial parks operating in the province.

Urban infrastructure around Long Thanh airport has convenient traffic connection systems such as Ring Road 4 HCMC, Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, provincial road 769E connecting from Long Thanh airport to Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, provincial road 773 connecting from Ring Road 4 to Cam My, Xuan Loc...

According to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, this is the first free trade area to integrate logistics functions of airports, deep-water ports associated with commercial activities, financial services, export processing industry and other auxiliary functions.

The free trade area near Long Thanh airport will connect with the International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City, helping businesses in the free trade area easily access financial services and train high-quality human resources.

The project implementation location is basically unified in the southwest gateway area of Long Thanh airport.
