Hopefully E10 gasoline will meet standards and have a suitable price to facilitate conversion
According to the roadmap being developed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, from January 1, 2026, E10 biofuel will completely replace traditional fuels.
This type of gasoline is a mixture of lead-free gasoline and fuel Etanol, with Etanol content from 9% to 10% by volume, coded E10.
Mr. Vu Viet Thanh (Cau Giay Ward, Hanoi) said that he had heard about E10 gasoline through the mass media but had not seen it sold widely on the market. "If this type of gasoline is implemented systematically and accompanied by measures to limit gasoline vehicles in the inner city like in Ring Road 1, this will be a positive solution to help reduce pollution," said Mr. Thanh.
As for many workers who use motorbikes as a means of livelihood, their top concern is the price. A motorbike taxi driver in Hung Yen said that the concept of biofuel is still quite new to him. If it is mandatory, he is willing to support the environmental policy, but if the price is higher, it will be very difficult to convert.

Similarly, Ms. Truong Thi Thanh (Hanoi) said that she is currently still using RON92 or RON95 gasoline. Occasionally, when going to fill up with gas, Ms. Thanh also saw some gas stations selling E10 gasoline but it was not popular. I understand that using biofuel will be beneficial to the environment, like encouraging the use of electric vehicles. However, biofuel must be priced at the same or lower than traditional gasoline to make people confident in converting, said Ms. Thanh.
Need for transparency in quality and prices to make people feel secure
Prof. Dr. Hoang Xuan Co - Head of the Department of Science and Technology, Vietnam Environmental Economics Association affirmed that E10 gasoline is a bio-friendly, environmentally friendly fuel and can partially replace fossil fuels.
In terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, E10 gasoline helps to significantly reduce CO2 emissions during use. In many developed countries, this type of gasoline has been widely used and has been proven to be more environmentally friendly than conventional gasoline, shared Prof. Dr. Hoang Xuan Co.

According to Prof. Dr. Hoang Xuan Co, technically, most vehicles today can use E10 gasoline if they are guaranteed quality and standards.
In the first phase, the cost of producing E10 gasoline may be high due to the complicated production process of ethanol. However, to encourage people to convert, the state needs to have a price support policy in the early application period, emphasized Prof. Dr. Hoang Xuan Co.
In addition, Prof. Dr. Hoang Xuan Co said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade should speed up this plan and must have detailed and clear research. At the same time, the price, quality and environmental benefits of E10 gasoline also need to be fully announced, specifically with data to make consumers feel secure.
