FDI capital realized in the first 10 months of 2025 reached 21.3 billion USD
According to the Statistics Office (Ministry of Finance), the total registered foreign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam as of October 31, 2025 includes: Newly registered capital, adjusted registered capital and the value of capital contribution and share purchase by foreign investors reached 31.52 billion USD, up 15.6% over the same period last year.
Newly licensed capital has 3,321 projects with registered capital reaching 14.07 billion USD, an increase of 21.1% over the same period last year in terms of project numbers and a decrease of 7.6% in registered capital.
Adjusted registered capital has 1,206 projects licensed from previous years with an additional adjusted investment capital of 12.11 billion USD, an increase of 45.0% over the same period last year.
The registered capital contribution and share purchase of foreign investors was 2,918 with a total capital contribution value of 5.34 billion USD, up 45.1% over the same period last year.
Foreign direct investment capital implemented in Vietnam in the first 10 months of 2025 is estimated at 21.3 billion USD, up 8.8% over the same period last year. This is the highest amount of foreign direct investment capital implemented in ten months in the past 5 years.
On the contrary, Vietnam's investment abroad in the first 10 months of 2025 has 148 projects newly granted investment certificates with a total capital of 742.8 million USD from Vietnam, an increase of 72.8% over the same period last year; there are 28 projects with adjusted capital increase of 358.2 million USD, 8.3 times.
Nearly 18,000 enterprises established in October
In addition to FDI capital, in October 2025, the number of newly established enterprises also achieved positive results. Accordingly, the whole country has nearly 18,000 newly established enterprises with registered capital of VND 172.5 trillion and registered number of employees of VND 93.6 thousand, an increase of 6.8% in the number of enterprises, an increase of 4.1% in registered capital and a decrease of 3.5% in the number of employees compared to September. Compared to the same period last year, the number of enterprises increased by 26.5%, the registered capital increased by 12.3% and the number of employees increased by 16.3%.
The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in October reached 9.6 billion VND, down 2.6% compared to the previous month and down 11.2% compared to the same period last year. In addition, the whole country also has 11.6 thousand enterprises returning to operation, an increase of 7.9% over the previous month and an increase of 33.9% over the same period in 2024.
In October, 6,065 enterprises registered to temporarily suspend business for a period of time, an increase of 32.9% over the previous month and an increase of 11.2% over the same period in 2024; 6,771 enterprises stopped operating pending dissolution procedures, an increase of 9.9% and an increase of 24.8%; 4,536 enterprises completed dissolution procedures, an increase of 8.5% and an increase of 128.3%.
In the first 10 months of 2025, the whole country had 162.9 thousand newly registered enterprises with a total registered capital of VND 1,592.7 trillion and a total registered number of employees of 967.6 thousand, an increase of 19.7% in the number of enterprises, an increase of 21.4% in registered capital and an increase of 18.6% in the number of employees compared to the same period last year.
The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in the first 10 months of 2025 reached 9.8 billion VND, an increase of 1.4% over the same period in 2024. The total registered capital added to the economy in the first 10 months of 2025 is 5.2 million billion VND, an increase of 98.2% over the same period in 2024.
In addition, the whole country has 92.9 thousand enterprises returning to operation (up 40.3% over the same period in 2024), bringing the total number of newly established and returning to operation in the first 10 months of 2025 to 255.9 thousand enterprises, up 26.5% over the same period in 2024. On average, 25.6 thousand newly established and returning to operation enterprises per month.
In the first 10 months of 2025, the number of enterprises temporarily suspending business for a period of time was 105.4 thousand enterprises, an increase of 14.4% over the same period last year; 58.4 thousand enterprises stopped operating pending dissolution procedures, down 8.3%; 26.8 thousand enterprises completed dissolution procedures, up 54.5%. On average, 19.1 thousand businesses withdraw from the market each month.
