According to LPG businesses, the domestic gas price level increased sharply in April mainly due to pressure from the international market. Specifically, the contract gas price (CP) in April was announced at about 775 USD/ton, a significant increase compared to the previous month, leading to an increase in import costs.
In addition, fluctuations in the USD/VND exchange rate also increase input costs, making it difficult for domestic gas prices to maintain at a low level as before.
After completing the adjustment period at the beginning of the month, gas prices are currently temporarily stable and no new increases have appeared.
World gas price
The world gas price is currently mainly determined according to the contract price (CP – Contract Price) announced monthly by Saudi Arabia. In April 2026, the CP price was set at about 775 USD/ton, a sharp increase compared to March.
This increase reflects the upward trend of the global energy market, in the context of increased consumption demand and signs of tight supply. The increase in stock prices has directly pushed up LPG import costs in many countries, including Vietnam.
Due to large dependence on import sources, domestic gas prices often fluctuate in the same direction as world prices, especially in early month adjustment periods.
* Note: Retail gas prices are for reference only, may change depending on the region and business; the trend in the coming time depends on world energy prices.
