On the morning of November 10, at the 10th Session, the National Assembly passed a Resolution to elect Mr. Do Van Chien - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the National Assembly Party Committee to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the 15th National Assembly, term 2021-2026.
The Resolution to elect the position of Vice Chairman of the National Assembly was voted in favor by the majority of National Assembly deputies.
New Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Do Van Chien was born in 1962, from Tuyen Quang province. He has a degree in Agricultural Engineering; Senior in political theory.
Mr. Do Van Chien is a member of the 13th Politburo; Secretary of the 13th Party Central Committee; Member of the 10th Party Central Committee (invalid), 11th, 12th, 13th; National Assembly delegate of the 13th, 14th, and 15th terms.
During his long working period in Tuyen Quang province, Mr. Chien held the following positions: Deputy Director of Tan Trao Son Duong Tea Industrial Enterprise; Vice Chairman of Son Duong District People's Committee; Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Finance - Management Department; Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Board; Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Yen Son District; Vice Chairman and then Permanent Vice Chairman of the Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang Province.
In August 2011, Mr. Do Van Chien was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee. He then held the positions of Deputy Minister, Deputy Chairman of the Ethnic Committee (2.2015 - 4.2016) and then Minister, Chairman of the Ethnic Committee (4. 2016 - 1.2021).
On April 12, 2021, the 4th Conference of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) for the 9th term elected Mr. Do Van Chien to hold the position of Chairman of the Central Committee of the VFF.
On May 16, 2025, at the 9th Central Conference of the 13th tenure, the Party Central Committee elected Mr. Do Van Chien as Politburo member.
According to the Politburo's decision announced on the morning of November 4, 2025, Mr. Do Van Chien - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, will cease to participate in the 13th Secretariat, cease to participate in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, cease to hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Central Trade Unions for the 2020-2025 term.
The Politburo also mobilized, assigned and appointed Mr. Do Van Chien to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and hold the position of Permanent Deputy Secretary of the National Assembly Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
