Gia Lai strives to export 3 billion USD

THANH TUẤN |

Gia Lai - Agriculture, seafood and processed wood industry is bringing a great export advantage to the province when bringing goods to the world market.

On October 18, the Department of Industry and Trade of Gia Lai province said that in the first 8 months of this year, the total export turnover of the province reached more than 2.18 billion USD; the target is to reach 3 billion USD by the end of the year.

Goods recorded clear growth including: seafood over 100 million USD, wood nearly 300 million USD, wood products 309 million USD, textiles over 255 million USD...

Of which, coffee is the main export item with more than 932 million USD; the rest is fruit, rubber latex, passion fruit, durian...

According to statistics from the Gia Lai Forestry and Wood Products Association, it is expected that by the end of the year, the industry's exports will reach about 1.1 billion USD, equivalent to 94% of the plan. The US market continues to be a "bright spot", accounting for nearly 37% of the total export turnover of the wood and forestry processing industry.

The European market - the traditional export area of the provincial wood industry - is stagnant due to the impact of the carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and the EUDR Regulation on deforestation. However, the wood chip and biological tablets group still grows well thanks to the need for clean energy.

In the first 9 months, exports to the US reached 300 law million USD, up 10% over the same period, with 170 participating enterprises, of which 121 enterprises had stable orders.

In the western Gia Lai region, the proportion of exports to the US is about 6.8%, mainly coffee and processed fruits.

Exporting enterprises in the area have proactively exploited Asian, Middle Eastern and European markets to diversify markets, increase revenue, limit tax risks and reduce logistics service costs.
