When mentioning the 4 heritage banyan trees, the people of Kim Anh commune, Kim Thanh district, the old Hai Duong province, now Phu Thai commune, Hai Phong city, still cannot help but be proud, because the 4 "old men" have been with many generations, becoming the treasure of the villagers. These 4 ancient banyan trees include the tree in the Kim Anh Commune Martyrs' Cemetery (old) in Quyet Thang village, the two banyan trees in Van Minh village and the Dong My banyan tree.
Most special in the cluster of 4 heritage banyan trees is the banyan tree in Van Minh village that is over 200 years old, the oldest of the 4 banyan trees. The double banyan tree in Van Minh village is a standing tree, with a trunk and many relatives, a canopy of tens of meters wide, and a height of more than 10 m. The two banyan trees stood right at the head of residential area No. 7 in Van Minh village, the canopy of the banyan tree, intertwined together to create a village gate. After hundreds of years, the two banyan trees are still "growing" together and growing well to protect local people.
Along with the banyan tree, the local people also told about the two "old men" in the grounds of the Kim Anh Commune Martyrs' Cemetery (old) and the Dong My multi-village tree. The two trees have many similarities as if they are about 150 years old; their shapes are equal to the trunk, 10 m higher, and the canopy is 3-5 m wide.
On April 5, 2024, the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment recognized 4 traditional Kim Anh commune banyan trees as Vietnam heritage trees. Up to now, with the care of local authorities and people, after many storms and winds, the 4 banyan trees are still growing, developing, and growing well all year round.
