The Russian Defense Ministry announced on October 18 that the country's armed forces had taken control of the village of Pleshcheyevka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).
A day earlier, the Russian army also completed the campaign to liberate the Novopavlovka settlement, thereby expanding control and creating a tactical pedal in the direction of Krasnoarmeysk.
According to information from the 55th independent Surrounding Mechanized rifle Brigade, under the Central operational Group, before the attack, reconnaissance units collected detailed data on the multi-layered defense arrangement of Ukrainian forces.
We maintain lines, strengthen public service and repay enemy attacks continuously until the end of the summer, said Captain Alexander Drobotov, deputy commander of the battalion in the Brigade.
The Novopavlovka re-occurrence campaign was launched by secret small groups breaking into the village peripheral area at night, while artillery fired suspected shelling into the vicinity.
For weeks, the Russian military has been hiding in settlements, monitoring Ukrainian activity, recording the supply route and the enemy's location before launching a major offensive.
When the attack began, shock troops, supported by artillery and drones, destroyed machine gun groups, battlefields and defensive personnel.
After taking the stronghold, we gradually headed into the village and completed the sweeps before noon, said Sergei Bozhkov, commander of a shock platoon.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that the Ukrainian army had tried to hold its position, but the forces were disjointed and lacked coordination. After completely controlling Novopavlovka, Russian soldiers reinforced the defense, erected obstacles and blocked the enemy's supply lines.
This campaign demonstrates the effectiveness of a modern combat model based on small attack groups coordinated with artillery, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and reconnaissance. Adding Pleshcheyevka and Novopavlovka helped Moscow significantly strengthen the game in Donetsk, while creating favorable conditions for further advances towards Krasnoarmeysk.
