World oil prices today
World oil prices continue to rise. At the end of yesterday's trading session (September 9), WTI and Brent oil prices increased by 3.25% and 3.99% respectively.
By this morning's session, both oil commodities continued the upward trend. At 8:24 am (Vietnam time), WTI oil price was at 96.79 USD/barrel, up 0.74 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.77%. WTI oil price closed the previous trading session at 96.05 USD/barrel, and opened today's session at 97.31 USD/barrel.
Brent oil was at 101.63 USD/barrel, outside the closing price range of the previous session. Brent oil closed the previous trading session at 101.66 USD/barrel, and opened today's session at 101.67 USD/barrel.
This is the highest closing price of the two oil commodities since May 22, 2026.
World gasoline and oil prices continue to rise sharply in the context of escalating conflict between the US and Iran, increasing concerns about supply from the Middle East, while putting more pressure on inflation and global energy costs.
The rise in oil prices was accelerated this week after Houthi forces in Yemen backed by Iran launched attacks targeting Saudi Arabia's energy facilities. Several oil rigs caught fire, increasing the risk of supply disruption in the Gulf region.
Compared to the peak of 126 USD/barrel in April, oil prices have now decreased significantly. However, the return of oil prices above the 100 USD/barrel threshold is increasing concerns about new risks to the market, in the context that the ability to respond to supply shocks has declined.
