World gasoline and oil prices rise amid continued complex tensions between the US and Iran.
Last week, oil prices rose sharply after the US and Iran resumed military attacks, raising concerns that prolonged conflict could disrupt global energy supplies, especially oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz.
Besides the risk of crude oil supply disruption, operations at many oil refineries around the world, especially in the Middle East and Russia, are also affected, contributing to pushing up oil product prices.
Faced with tense developments in the Middle East, Citi has raised its forecast for the average Brent oil price in Q3/2026 to 86 USD/barrel, from the previous level of 80 USD/barrel. The bank believes that the time for the Hormuz Strait to reopen may be longer than expected.
