World oil prices today
World oil prices fluctuated today. At 11:09, WTI crude oil was at 76.46 USD/barrel, up 0.07 USD/barrel, or 0.09%. WTI crude oil closed the previous trading session at 76.37 USD/barrel and opened today's session at 76.79 USD/barrel.
Brent crude oil was at $79.90 a barrel, down $0.02 a barrel, or 0.03 percent. Brent crude oil closed the previous trading session at $79.92 a barrel and opened today's session at $80.28 a barrel.
Thus, the world oil price in yesterday's trading session (January 14) decreased sharply. At the end of the session, both Brent and WTI oil decreased by 1.35% and 1.67% respectively. By this morning's session, both oil products reversed and increased slightly.
Oil prices cooled as the market digested the US Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) short-term energy outlook, which forecasts US oil demand to remain stable at 20.5 million barrels per day in 2025 and 2026, while domestic oil production will increase to 13.55 million barrels per day, analysts said.
Abundant supplies have helped push oil prices lower. Meanwhile, the short-term impact on prices has been focused on sanctions on Russian oil. Investors expect that new U.S. sanctions on Russian oil will force buyers in India and China to look for other suppliers.
