World gasoline and oil prices reversed to increase. At the end of the weekend trading session, WTI oil price was at 82.40 USD/barrel, up 1.15 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 1.42%. WTI oil price closed the previous trading session at 81.25 USD/barrel, and opened the weekend session at 81.16 USD/barrel.

World oil prices rose in the last trading session of the week, amid ongoing oil tanker attacks and no progress in efforts to reach a peace agreement between the US and Iran.
On August 13 (local time), according to TASS news agency, 2 ships of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Corporation (ADNOC) were attacked while moving through the Strait of Hormuz. ADNOC said no one was injured and the situation was under control.
The UAE Foreign Ministry later accused Iran of carrying out the attack, calling it a hostile act against commercial ships. Abu Dhabi asked Tehran to end the attacks, and called for the full and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
The UAE believes that targeting commercial ships and obstructing international shipping routes threatens regional stability as well as global energy security. The UAE Foreign Ministry also accused the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of actions that Abu Dhabi calls "piracy".
This is the second incident in less than a week involving a DNAOC ship. On August 8, the UAE also accused a ship related to the national oil company of being attacked while passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to ADNOC, since the conflict began, 15 ships of the company have been attacked by missiles and drones, killing 1 crew member and injuring 20 people.
Meanwhile, on August 13 (Washington time), US Vice President JD Vance said that maintaining low oil and gas prices for the American people is Washington's top goal in the conflict with Iran. The second goal is to prevent Iran from possessing nuclear weapons. Mr. Vance expressed confidence that the US can achieve both goals.
Mr. Vance's statement shows that energy prices and nuclear issues are two focuses in Washington's goals for the conflict with Tehran. In which, oil price movements are closely linked to energy transportation through the Strait of Hormuz - a strategic shipping route connecting the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arab Sea.
