World oil prices on December 25 (Vietnam time) fluctuated in different directions. At 10:32, WTI crude oil was at 70.10 USD/barrel, down 0.06 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 0.09%. Thus, world oil prices continued to fluctuate strongly with a sharp increase in yesterday's trading session (December 24). At the end of the session, Brent oil prices increased by 1.31% and WTI crude oil prices increased by 1.24%.
Supporting oil prices, analysts said, was data from the American Petroleum Institute showing that US crude oil inventories fell by 3.2 million barrels last week, while gasoline inventories rose by 3.9 million barrels.
In addition, China’s plan to issue 3 trillion yuan ($411 billion) of special treasury bonds next year, as the country ramps up fiscal stimulus to revive its weakening economy, is likely to provide short-term support for WTI crude oil prices at $67 a barrel.
Analysts expect benchmark prices to hover around current levels in the near term, with investors staying on the sidelines until there is a clearer picture of the global oil balance in 2024 and 2025.
