World oil prices today
World oil prices increased simultaneously on December 24 (Vietnam time). At 10:20 am, WTI crude oil was at 69.47 USD/barrel, up 0.22 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.32%. WTI crude oil closed the previous trading session at 69.24 USD/barrel, opening today's session at 69.51 USD/barrel.
Brent crude oil was at $72.57 a barrel, up $0.25 a barrel, or 0.35 percent. Brent crude oil closed the previous session at $72.32 a barrel and opened today at $72.68 a barrel.
Thus, right from the first trading session of the week, world oil prices fluctuated strongly when they increased sharply at the beginning of the session, then turned down and closed the session with both Brent and WTI oil down, down 0.43% and 0.32% respectively. By this morning's session, world oil prices rebounded.
According to analysts, the US dollar hovering around a two-year high has put significant pressure on oil prices. In addition, the US Federal Reserve (Fed) has sent mixed signals regarding interest rate policy, weak economic data... making the crude oil market more gloomy before the holidays.
The decision to extend production cuts by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC+) until the end of the first quarter of 2025 has affected oil prices.
Domestic gasoline prices today
On December 24, retail gasoline prices according to the price list announced by Petrolimex in regions 1 and 2 (46 provinces and cities currently applying) are as follows:
The above domestic retail prices of gasoline and oil were adjusted by the Ministry of Finance - Industry and Trade in the price management session on the afternoon of December 19. Accordingly, all gasoline and oil products increased simultaneously. The price of E5 RON 92 gasoline increased by 383 VND/liter, RON 95-III gasoline increased by 408 VND/liter, diesel increased by 478 VND/liter, kerosene increased by 402 VND/liter, and fuel oil increased by 329 VND/kg.

Hoang Trong General Trading Company Limited: Diesel 0.05S - II: 1,450 VND/liter, applied at Hai Linh warehouse, Hai Phong; RON 95 - III gasoline: 1,450 VND/liter, applied at Hai Linh warehouse, Hai Phong, Hoang Huy, Nghi Son; RON 95 - III gasoline: 1,250 VND/liter, applied at Bac Ninh warehouse; E5 gasoline: 1,350 VND/liter at Dinh Vu warehouse, Petec.
Tu Luc Petroleum: Discount on Diesel 0.05S-II: 1,450 VND/liter; Diesel 0.001S-V: 1,350; RON 95 - III gasoline: 1,350 VND/liter; E5 gasoline: 1,300 VND/liter.
MIPEC Gasoline: Discount on RON 95 - III gasoline: 1,250 VND/liter; E5 gasoline: 1,050 VND/liter; Diesel 0.05S-II: 1,350 VND/liter. Applicable to the Northern region.
Forecast of domestic gasoline prices next period
According to a representative of a petroleum business, domestic petroleum prices will fluctuate according to the world petroleum situation. According to current market developments, it is forecasted that in the next price adjustment period, petroleum prices may decrease.
In particular, the price of RON 95-III gasoline is forecasted to decrease by about 440 VND/liter; E5 gasoline by about 420 VND/liter; and Diesel oil by about 60 VND/liter.
Since the beginning of the year, since the price adjustment session on January 4, gasoline prices have increased 24 times and decreased 26 times. Oil prices have increased 22 times and decreased 28 times.
