According to analysts, oil prices fluctuated slightly as concerns about tight global supply due to the US threat of imposing tariffs on countries buying Venezuela's petroleum products were eased by information about a ceasefire agreement related to maritime and energy between Russia and Ukraine.
Reuters quoted a source as saying that the US has mediated an agreement to temporarily suspend attacks at sea as well as energy targets between the two countries in conflict, and agreed to promote the lifting of some sanctions against Russia.
Although both Kiev and Moscow have said they will rely on Washington's role in supervising the implementation of the deal, both sides have expressed skepticism about the commitment to compliance from the opponent.
