World oil prices today
World oil prices last week recorded a sharp drop, reaching a record low in more than a year. At the end of the trading week, WTI crude oil was at 73.65 USD/barrel last week, down to 68.16 USD/barrel this weekend. Overall, WTI crude oil fell by 5.49 USD/barrel last week, a decrease of 7.4% compared to the previous week.
Brent crude oil was at $76.93/barrel last week, down to $71.06/barrel this weekend. Overall, Brent crude oil fell $5.87/barrel last week, down 7.6% from the previous week.
Thus, world oil prices have decreased for 3 consecutive weeks. With the sharp decline in recent trading sessions, WTI oil prices are currently at their lowest level since June 2023.
According to Reuters, data from the US Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that non-farm payrolls increased by 142,000 jobs in August. This was the smallest increase since a sharp decline in December 2020, and lower than the 160,000 job increase forecast by economists.
According to analysts, in addition to the US employment factor, concerns about Chinese demand continue to put pressure on oil prices.

On September 8, retail gasoline prices according to the price list announced by Petrolimex in regions 1 and 2 (46 provinces and cities currently applying) are as follows:
The above domestic retail prices of gasoline and oil were adjusted by the Ministry of Finance - Industry and Trade in the price management session on the afternoon of September 5. Accordingly, the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline decreased by 353 VND/liter, RON 95-III gasoline decreased by 282 VND/liter, diesel oil decreased by 385 VND/liter, kerosene decreased by 341 VND/liter. The price of fuel oil decreased the most, by 407 VND/kg.

Discount prices of petroleum products today, September 8, at some domestic petroleum dealers are as follows:
Pvoil applies discount rates on September 8: Oil discount of VND1,600/liter; RON 95-III gasoline: VND1,600/liter; E5 gasoline: VND1,200/liter. This discount rate is applied at Pvoil Dinh Vu warehouse, Petec An Hai, Cai Lan warehouse.
Tu Luc Petroleum discounts on September 8 as follows: Oil discount: 1,550 VND/liter; RON 95 - III gasoline: 1,550 VND/liter; E5 gasoline: 1,150 VND/liter.
MIPEC gasoline discount on September 8: RON 95 - III discount: 1,400 VND/liter; E5 gasoline: 1,100 VND/liter; oil: 1,700 VND/liter, 1,750 VND/liter (volume over 30 cubic meters).
Forecast of domestic gasoline prices next period
According to a representative of a petroleum business, domestic petroleum prices will fluctuate according to the world petroleum situation. According to current market developments, it is forecasted that in the next price adjustment period, petroleum prices may decrease sharply. Of which, gasoline prices may decrease by 900-1,000 VND/liter; oil prices decrease by about 600 VND/liter.
Since the beginning of the year, since the price adjustment session on January 4, gasoline prices have increased 17 times and decreased 18 times. Oil prices have increased 16 times and decreased 19 times.
