World oil prices today
World gasoline and oil prices fluctuated sharply, at the end of the weekend trading session, WTI oil price was at 95.42 USD/barrel, up 0.61 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 0.64%. Previously, WTI oil closed the previous trading session at 94.81 USD/barrel and opened the weekend session at 97.62 USD/barrel.
Meanwhile, Brent oil price was at 101.29 USD/barrel, up 1.23 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 1.23%. In the previous session, Brent oil closed at 100.06 USD/barrel and opened the last session of the week at 102.53 USD/barrel.
According to analysts, although it went up in the last trading session of the week, both oils still recorded a decrease of more than 6% last week, thereby reflecting the cautious sentiment of investors in the face of unpredictable developments in the Middle East.
Analysts believe that oil prices continue to fluctuate sharply between expectations of cooling down the conflict and the risk of escalating military tensions. The market is in a state of "barreling", as on the one hand expectations of progress in negotiations between the US and Iran are still maintained, and on the other hand the risk of a new war breaking out has not decreased.
Brent oil prices fell by about 7% this week after President Donald Trump announced that the ceasefire agreement with Iran was still maintained, despite new clashes between US and Iranian forces. This development strengthens expectations that the two sides can still reach a broader agreement in the near future.
However, tensions in the Middle East region have not cooled down. The US Central Command said US forces launched attacks on military targets in Iran after Tehran opened fire on three destroyers in the Strait of Hormuz. However, US officials affirmed that Washington is not seeking to escalate the conflict.
