On the evening of May 1st, Trieu Van Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Border Guard) said that on the afternoon of May 1st, 5 fires occurred in Sub-area 791T (Linh An village, Nam Cua Viet commune) and were urgently handled by functional forces to prevent widespread damage.
Previously, at 3:20 PM on the same day, the task force of Trieu Van Border Guard Station discovered a fire in the protection forest area.
Immediately after that, Trieu Van Border Guard Station reported to the local authorities, and at the same time mobilized 25 officers and soldiers and coordinated with Coast Guard Flotilla 202, police, militia and local people to deploy firefighting.
Due to the characteristics of a long-standing protection forest, thick vegetation and prolonged hot weather, combined with strong sea winds, the fire spread quickly.
The forces were divided into groups to zone off, preventing the fire from spreading, and completed firefighting work at about 5 pm on the same day.
According to initial statistics, the fire caused damage to more than 2 hectares of protection forest.
The cause of the forest fire is being verified and clarified by functional agencies.
