Hanoi Market Management Force has just inspected and discovered over 13 tons of food including sausages and lap xuong with signs of being smuggled goods.

Carrying out the peak of market inspection and control before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025, Market Management Team No. 17, Hanoi Market Management Department has just coordinated with Team 7 - Economic Police Department - Hanoi City Police to detect and seize over 13 tons of food that does not ensure food safety after inspecting a warehouse in Dong Thap commune, Dan Phuong district, Hanoi City.

At the time of the warehouse inspection, all the food of unknown origin, mainly sausages, beef jerky and various candies, were mixed with some food items with documents. This made the counting and classification work of the functional forces very difficult.

The product packaging is printed in foreign languages, without Vietnamese labels. Many products have leaked and have a strong odor.

The warehouse owner, born in 1990 and residing in Dan Phuong district, admitted that over 13 tons of these foods had no origin, no invoices or documents, were purchased illegally on the market, mainly from the border, and then brought to Hanoi and neighboring provinces for consumption.

If successful, this food of unknown origin will be supplied to grocery stores or fast food stores in the city, mainly for students. This poses a risk to the health of consumers.

Currently, the authorities have sealed and seized all the food of unknown origin to destroy it according to the law. According to the listing, the total value of the violating shipment is nearly 1.9 billion VND.

According to Mr. Le Manh Hung, Captain of Market Management Team No. 17, Hanoi Market Management Department, in the coming time, the Market Management force will continue to coordinate with functional units to effectively implement the Peak Plan for market inspection and control before, during and after Lunar New Year;

Strengthen inspection and control of all areas, especially food products that do not ensure quality and safety and are sold to students at school gates in Hanoi.

"If discovered, we will handle it strictly to serve as a deterrent to violators," said Mr. Hung.
