The 2026 Economic Census was conducted throughout Hanoi City for all investigation units of all economic types.
The investigating subjects are grassroots units belonging to corporations, general corporations, enterprises, cooperatives, cooperative unions, people's credit funds; non-public non-business units; associations; production and business establishments directly under administrative agencies, public non-business units; non-agricultural, forestry and fishery individual production and business establishments; cooperative groups; branches, representative offices of foreign enterprises and non-governmental organizations licensed to operate in Vietnam; religious and belief establishments.
The data period is the information of statistical indicators arising in 2025 or over a certain period of time specifically specified for each indicator and in the survey form.
The time to collect information with businesses is from April 1, 2026 to the end of August 31, 2026; with non-public non-business units; associations, unions; branches, representative offices of foreign businesses and non-governmental organizations licensed to operate in Vietnam from April 1, 2026 to the end of June 30, 2026.
For production and business establishments directly under administrative agencies and public service units from July 1, 2026 to July 31, 2026. Individual production and business establishments; cooperative groups; religious and belief establishments from January 5, 2026 to March 31, 2026. Information collection applies both direct and indirect methods.
The investigation content includes: Identification information, industry of production and business activities, economic type, institutional sector; production and business conditions of the investigating unit (information on labor, assets, capital sources); information on products, revenue, production and business costs, profits, taxes and budget contributions, energy consumption and information serving the compilation of specialized statistical indicators; application of modern technology, scientific research and innovation; application of information technology in production and business, digital economy and e-commerce; in-depth specialized information.
The 2026 Economic Census aims to assess the development of the number, scale and labor of economic establishments; production and business results; level of application of information technology, digital transformation; structure and distribution of establishments and labor by locality, by economic sector, by economic type and by ownership form to meet management and administration requirements.
At the same time, the information collected serves to compile relevant statistical indicators belonging to the national statistical indicator system; especially the gross domestic product (GDP), gross regional domestic product (GRDP) indicators in provinces and centrally-run cities and other relevant statistical indicators.
