On May 26, the delegation of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Vietnam worked with the leaders of Hai Duong province on the project to build a wastewater collection and treatment system in 5 central urban areas, including Chi Linh city, Kinh Mon town, Gia Loc, Cam Giang, Nam Sach districts.
The project will build about 166 km of new sewers, nearly 9 km of pressure pipes, 9 pumping stations and 5 centralized wastewater treatment plants with a total capacity of 21,000 m3/day and night. In which, the capacity of each area ranges from 3,000 - 6,000 m3/day and night.
The processing technology is an advanced hyereetical grain mud tank (AGS), saving area, low operating costs and in line with the trend of applying artificial intelligence in environmental treatment.

The project aims to collect 75% of domestic wastewater and 100% of wastewater from small-scale industries in the area, ensuring standard discharge water, fair access for all groups of people, including poor households and vulnerable groups.
The total estimated investment is VND1,498 billion, of which the non-refundable aid from the Dutch Government is VND538.6 billion, the rest is counterpart capital from the provincial budget. The project is expected to be completed and handed over in June 2028.
Mr. Luu Van Ban - Permanent Vice Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee - affirmed that Hai Duong has urgently completed the dossier, project plan and draft sponsorship agreement to send to the Embassy of the Netherlands. The province is committed to fully fulfilling its assigned responsibilities, while closely following the process of seeking opinions from ministries and branches to submit to the Prime Minister for approval of the investment policy.
Mr. Willem Timmerman - First Secretary in charge of the water and climate sector of the Embassy of the Netherlands - highly appreciated the efforts of Hai Duong province and said that he will continue to accompany in activities to support sustainable development in Vietnam. On the same afternoon, the delegation will work with the Ministry of Finance to promote project implementation.
