Soc Trang - Soc Trang farmers expect the upcoming high-quality rice crop to reduce emissions.

In early May, when the salinity on the rivers has decreased significantly and the water source is abundant from the rains, farmers in Soc Trang province are urgently starting the soil preparation stage, ready for the 2025 Summer-Autumn rice crop with the spirit of excitement and confidence in a bumper crop.

At Hung Loi Agricultural Cooperative (Long Phu district) on a field of hundreds of hectares, farmers are busy plowing and cleaning the fields to prepare to sow ST25 rice variety - a delicious rice variety, which has won many noble awards in the international arena.

Mr. Huynh Van Chin - a member of the Cooperative shared - after the 2024 - 2025 Winter-Spring crop successfully harvested thanks to the application of a high-quality rice farming model, reducing emissions, he decided to continue accompanying the model in this Summer-Autumn crop. ST25 rice variety is still a choice and it is expected that sowing will be carried out in about 10 days.

Mr. Chin excitedly said: "When participating in the model, we are supported with 100% of sowing costs, 50% of seed and agricultural materials costs. Thanks to that, I only need to sow 60kg of seeds/ha, saving a significant cost. The total input cost has decreased by 10-15%, and the recent crop has brought me a profit of about 50 million VND per hectare of rice. In particular, our rice was purchased by the enterprise at 10,300 VND/kg, more than 2,000 VND higher than the market price at that time".

Not only Mr. Chin, many other farmers in the cooperative are also excited with the upcoming season. Mr. Pham Hoang Tran, who participated in the pilot model from the summer-autumn crop 2024, said: "I apply advanced farming processes such as" 1 must be 5 reducing "and" 3 reduction 3 increase "so that the yield is over 8 tons/ha, the price of 11,000 VND/kg, except for the profit cost of about 70 million VND/ha. Even the winter-spring crop 2024-2025, despite the unfavorable weather, I still harvest over 7 tons/ha, VND 50 million/kg VND 50 million/kg Dong/ha. I am currently preparing to make land to continue to participate in the summer -autumn model 2025 with many expectations. "

Mr. Truong Van Hung - Director of Hung Loi Agricultural Cooperative, said - the cooperative is implementing a high-quality rice growing model, reducing emissions on an area of 50 hectares. Thanks to the support of the professional sector, 3 environmental sensors have been installed in the fields, connected to smartphones to help farmers monitor water levels in real time and adjust them promptly. Thanks to that, rice plants grow healthily, limit falls and reduce losses after harvest.

According to Mr. Hung, the model not only improves production efficiency but also helps farmers reduce labor and raise people's awareness of green, clean, sustainable, environmentally friendly production.

"Previously, people sprayed medicine every time there were mosquito larvae, but now that the technical staff have guided and everyone understands the farming process better, the farming of rice has become much easier," Mr. Hung said excitedly.
