Can Tho City People's Committee has just issued a Plan to implement the Project "Developing the livestock barn industry and treating livestock waste by 2030" in the city.
The general objective of the plan is to effectively implement the Project; Modernize equipment and barn technology to meet the requirements of developing biosafety, disease-free, environmentally friendly livestock farming and humane treatment of livestock; Improve the capacity to manage and treat livestock waste to protect the environment and effectively use livestock waste for various purposes.
The implementation contents will include propaganda, dissemination and implementation guidance; Research on the current status of circular livestock farming models, biosafety livestock farming; Development of supporting industries for manufacturing and producing modern barn equipment; Application of technology in livestock waste treatment; Development of circular livestock farming models, improving the economic and ecological efficiency of livestock farming.
According to the plan, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) will coordinate with relevant departments, branches and district People's Committees to review, develop and implement relevant policies and support, giving priority to the application of policies, support and encouragement, synchronous collection, treatment and utilization of organic waste for various purposes and treatment of livestock waste, construction of biogas works of all kinds for livestock households.
The Department of Planning and Investment supports, invites, and guides businesses to participate in cooperation and investment in the development of animal husbandry and waste treatment industry by 2030 in the city.
The Department of Science and Technology presides over and coordinates with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to promote research and development of supporting industries in the field of manufacturing and producing equipment for livestock farms, gradually modernizing the system of livestock farms and technology for treating livestock waste.
District and commune People's Committees shall, based on the plan's contents, coordinate with relevant departments and branches to implement it in accordance with local realities; create favorable conditions to attract investment in livestock development, apply modern livestock barn models, advanced equipment and apply measures to collect, treat, and utilize organic waste, treat livestock waste, contributing to sustainable livestock development and environmental protection.
