After many months of preparation, Muong Ang district, Dien Bien province has officially launched the implementation of the 4.0 market model - cashless payment. Initially, this model will be applied at the central market of Muong Ang district and the central market of Bung Lao commune.
With just a smartphone, traders and customers can buy, sell and exchange goods at the market by scanning QR codes or transferring money via the app.
Ms. Quang Thi Xoan - a trader at the central market of Bung Lao commune - said: "Previously, buying and selling goods mainly relied on cash. Now, with the QR code scanning and direct transfer features, transactions take place quickly, no longer having to fumble with small change every day.
Mr. Dinh Van Son - Vice Chairman of Muong Ang District People's Committee - said that currently, the district is continuing to coordinate with banks and businesses to open QR codes, aiming for 100% of small traders and businesses to be equipped with QR Codes.
Currently, the two central markets in Muong Ang have been equipped with free wifi systems. The current platform has met the needs of about 1,200 smart devices to access at the same time.
While many localities are struggling with the problem of building markets, Muong Ang district, Dien Bien province has emerged as a bright spot when it has consecutively put into operation two central markets.
The central market of Muong Ang district started construction in February 2020 and was inaugurated and put into use in November 2020 with the construction value of phase 1 of about 8 billion VND on an area of nearly 14,000 m2. Up to now, the market has become a crowded trading place, no longer seeing people buying and selling on the street or sidewalk.
Following that success, Muong Ang district continued to build the central market of Bung Lao commune in a favorable geographical location. In July 2014, the central market of Bung Lao commune was officially inaugurated and put into operation.
This is not only a center for exchanging and trading goods for people in the district but also attracts people from neighboring areas, such as Dien Bien Dong district, Tuan Giao and Muong Bam commune, Thuan Chau district (Son La province).
