On September 8, a working delegation of the General Department of Customs led by General Director Nguyen Van Tho promptly inspected and directed the overcoming of the consequences of storm No. 3 at the Hai Phong Customs Department, Quang Ninh Customs Department, the Northern Sea Anti-Smuggling Control Squadron, and the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department - stationed in Quang Ninh.
Hai Phong and Quang Ninh are the two localities located in the eye of the storm and most heavily affected by storm number 3.
After directly inspecting the scene, Director General Nguyen Van Tho praised the proactiveness of the Hai Phong Customs Department, Quang Ninh Customs Department and the Northern Sea Anti-Smuggling Control Squadron in implementing measures to prevent and combat storm No. 3, thereby minimizing the damage caused by the storm.
On behalf of the leaders of the General Department of Customs, General Director Nguyen Van Tho shared the difficulties and hardships of civil servants and employees of units affected by storm No. 3, especially units located in the storm's eye areas of Hai Phong and Quang Ninh.
To ensure import and export activities, customs procedures and goods clearance take place smoothly and conveniently, without causing congestion of goods in two important areas, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, General Director Nguyen Van Tho directed units to continue to make efforts to overcome difficulties, promptly overcome the consequences and damages caused by storm No. 3 to stabilize life and work; Actively and proactively coordinate with the Department of Information Technology and Customs Statistics and functional departments and agencies of the General Department of Customs to ensure facilities, equipment and information technology systems.
At the same time, units need to strengthen customs inspection, supervision and control at warehouses, yards and ports in the area to prevent and stop acts of taking advantage of storms and floods to smuggle and illegally transport goods...
The General Director requested that in the process of performing tasks in the current context, if there are any difficulties or problems, the units need to promptly report to the General Department of Customs for resolution.
The General Director noted that although storm No. 3 has dissipated, the impacts after the storm are still very large, especially the risk of floods in the northern border provinces. Therefore, customs units across the country must continue to fully and seriously implement plans to ensure the safety of civil servants and workers and ensure the facilitation of import and export activities associated with improving the effectiveness of state management of customs and anti-smuggling.
The leaders of the General Department of Customs will always pay attention to leading, directing, and creating conditions for units to quickly overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 so that life and work can return to normal.
According to the report of the Provincial and City Customs Departments affected by storm No. 3, strictly implementing the direction of the General Department of Customs and leaders at all levels, the units have synchronously deployed storm prevention and control measures according to regulations.
Up to now, 100% of the staff, civil servants and employees of the units are safe; basically the assets, machinery and equipment of the units are guaranteed, without major damage; the state management of customs is guaranteed.
