Up to this point, Yen Bai has had 1 death due to natural disasters; 439 houses damaged, 610 hectares of crops affected; many traffic routes were eroded and flooded...
Total damage caused by natural disasters is estimated at about 15 billion VND.
Immediately after the disaster, Yen Bai province proactively visited, supported and encouraged families of those who died, were injured and lost their homes and property. At the same time, it continued to review and evacuate households in areas at high risk of landslides and flash floods to safe places; directed the government and the people to urgently find land to build new houses for households who lost their homes, helping people to soon stabilize their lives.
Mr. Tran Huy Tuan proposed that the Government, the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, and central ministries and branches support Yen Bai province in developing a map of areas at risk of flash floods and landslides to re-arrange the population, relocate people in areas at high risk of natural disasters to safe places, and have plans to build appropriate natural disaster prevention infrastructure.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said: This is a big storm, the Government has closely directed it from early on. The Deputy Prime Minister praised Yen Bai province for promptly directing and implementing the Prime Minister's direction according to the motto of early, from afar.
The Deputy Prime Minister and the delegation sympathized with the families of those who died due to natural disasters and requested Yen Bai province to continue to pay attention, encourage and sympathize with the families of those who lost their lives.
Regarding Thac Ba Hydropower Plant, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the plant has implemented well storm and flood prevention plans, both ensuring general safety and generating electricity to meet the needs of socio-economic development.
Regarding tasks in the coming time, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that Yen Bai province needs to closely coordinate with central agencies to closely monitor the developments of storm No. 3 and other natural disaster situations; develop different plans, especially plans to respond to heavy rain, landslides, flash floods after the storm's circulation.
Continue to fully count the damage after natural disasters and promptly encourage affected households and have plans to evacuate households in dangerous areas to safe places; develop plans to urgently relocate residents out of dangerous areas of natural disasters.
Carry out well the work of ensuring the lives of affected people, resolutely not letting any people suffer from hunger due to natural disasters; ensure smooth traffic. The Deputy Prime Minister agreed with the recommendations of Yen Bai province, and at the same time requested the central ministries and branches to coordinate with the province to consider and resolve promptly.
