According to representatives of Ha Long International Passenger Port - the largest private seaport in the country today - to date, the number of sea vessel trips registered to dock and anchor at the port in 2026 has reached 88 trips.
The total number of passengers on 88 ships is about 150,000 passengers, coming from key markets such as the US, Germany, UK, Canada, China and many European countries. That is not to mention the number of crew members, including ships up to more than 1,200 crew members.
Celebrity Solstice ship, Maltese nationality, docked at Ha Long International Passenger Port on January 31, 2025, in addition to 3,018 international tourists, there were 1,222 crew members.
In 2025, there were about 70 cruise ships, with nearly 90,000 international tourists from many markets in Europe, America, Australia, Northeast Asia... registering to dock at Ha Long International Passenger Port, an increase of about 30% compared to 2024.

Besides high-class cruise ships that have come and returned to Ha Long Bay many times, such as: Celebrity Solstice, Mein Schiff 6, Westerdam..., in 2025 there are more new cruise ships such as: Brilliant Lady, Luminara, Pacific World... bringing tourists to visit and experience destinations in Quang Ninh.
This figure clearly reflects the strong recovery momentum and sustainable growth of the cruise tourism segment in Quang Ninh.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, there were about 100 super-luxury international cruise ships each year, bringing about 150,000 - 180,000 passengers from all over the world, docking in Ha Long Bay.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Bui Quang Tuan - Deputy Managing Director of Ha Long International Passenger Port - said that the port always proactively prepares synchronously conditions on infrastructure, technology and maritime safety, ensuring ships dock safely and conveniently.
Along with that, coordinate with Customs and Border Guard to ensure management, control, and quick and convenient entry procedures; continue to cooperate with shipping lines and international travel partners to expand sea routes, diversify products, and bring tourists experiences imbued with Vietnamese identity when coming to Quang Ninh.
According to Mr. Phan Xuan Anh - General Director of Tan Hong Tourism Company, one of the largest cruise passenger reception units in Vietnam - the competition to attract cruise passengers between countries is currently very fierce.
Because, cruise passengers are mostly middle-aged and over and have good economic conditions and large spending. Moreover, the presence of super-luxury ships not only contributes to creating prestige and spreading the image of the destination, but also contributes to the development of various types of services...

Therefore, according to Mr. Xuan Anh, Quang Ninh needs to diversify tourism products even more, especially in Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long because the potential is still very large, while for many years there have been no new products.
In addition, cruise passengers often have a need to learn deeply about the field of culture and life of indigenous people. Tourism products must have indigenous culture, must preserve indigenous culture to be attractive enough to this flow of passengers" - Mr. Xuan Anh said.
According to assessments, Ha Long Bay is located on an important maritime transport route of Asia, suitable for the route connecting cruise routes in the region and the world, especially close to China - where many international shipping lines bring cruise ships to operate.
Ha Long Bay is also the closest point to other North Asian markets, such as: Taiwan (China), South Korea, Japan... so it has even more conditions to attract tourists.
