Due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, flooding and landslides occurred in Quang Tan commune in many areas, causing damage to aquaculture, crops, transportation infrastructure and people's property.
According to initial statistics until the afternoon of May 19, the locality still had light rain. 12 households in the area near Lang Ngang - Na Pa bridge were flooded with an average depth of about 40cm.
In addition, about 45ha of rice and crops were flooded and broken; some infrastructure works, irrigation ditches, and traffic roads were landslides and damaged.
In Dong Thanh and Thin Thu villages, 3 fish farming households were flooded with a total area of about 2ha.

Notably, in Siec Long Min village, a sturgeon farm was swept away by floods 7 commercial fish tanks with about 11,000 fish, equivalent to about 27.5 tons of fish; at the same time, about 10,000 fish fry in 80 farming tanks were also affected. Total estimated damage is about 10 billion VND.
Mr. Vu Dinh Hao - owner of the Siec Long Min sturgeon cooperative facility - said that before the flood occurred, the cooperative had about 40 tons of commercial sturgeon. Floodwaters had swept away more than half of the output.
However, thanks to the support of local authorities, armed forces and people, the Cooperative has consumed about 10 tons of fish. Currently, there are still about 2-3 tons of fish in the pond, waiting for traders and people to support consumption," Mr. Hao said.

According to the People's Committee of Quang Tan commune, immediately after the rain and flood occurred, the locality assigned forces to be on duty 24/24 hours, arranged guards at 9 flooded overflow bridge locations; mobilized human resources to support people to move property, clear the flow and clear landslide roads to ensure traffic safety.
For sturgeon farming households that suffered heavy losses, local authorities and armed forces have supported the transportation of fish from the farming pond area across the river to the gathering point; supported manpower to clean up the farming area.
Regarding supporting the consumption of sturgeon for affected households, socio-political organizations and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tan commune are calling for support to "rescue" sturgeon on the system of fanpages of the Fatherland Front and large reputable fanpages in the locality, connecting consumption with some supermarkets and business establishments in the area to reduce damage to people.
The locality is continuing to review and statistically assess damage to have timely support plans; and at the same time recommend that people proactively monitor weather developments, ensuring safety for people and property.
