Peak hour electricity prices nearly 3 times higher, recommendations on how to use electricity economically
According to new regulations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, peak hour electricity prices for production and business customers are currently nearly 3 times higher than peak hours. For business customers using voltage from 22kV or higher, peak hour prices are up to 5,025 VND/kWh, while peak hour prices are only 1,609 VND/kWh. Groups using voltage below 6kV bear the highest price, up to 5,422 VND/kWh.

From April 22, 2026, the new peak hours are adjusted to focus entirely on the evening, from 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM on Mondays to Saturdays. The Ministry of Industry and Trade and NSMO believe that this change is aimed at reducing pressure on the power system during the hot season, when the demand for electricity in the evening increases sharply.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Tri Long - Economic expert recommends that businesses need to change the way they manage electricity, considering electricity as a cost factor that needs to be optimized similarly to raw materials or finance. Businesses should create load charts per hour to determine the stage of large electricity consumption, thereby adjusting operations to low or normal hours to save costs. See more...
